Welcome to the Consumer Debt Dashboard

This dashboard provides a detailed, interactive view of consumer credit health and debt profiles across Canadian communities. It is designed to help you explore localized financial metrics—including debt breakdowns, credit participation, and delinquency rates—to better understand the economic landscape of different regions.

What You Can Explore

The dashboard is divided into three primary views, accessible via the navigation buttons in the top right:

  • Main Page: Features an interactive choropleth map and a ranked table displaying the geographic distribution of a chosen credit metric (e.g., Average Total Debt per Consumer) across Canada.
  • Regional Statistics: Clicking on any specific geography from the map or the ranking table generates a detailed, localized breakdown. This includes the area's prime vs. subprime credit score proportions, debt distribution by trade (mortgage, auto, bankcard, etc.), utilization rates, and delinquency severity (30, 60, and 90+ days).
  • Correlation Page: A scatter plot tool that allows you to compare two different measures against each other to identify trends and relationships across different regions.

How to Control the Dashboard

Use the dropdown filters located at the bottom of the screen to customize your data view:

  • Adjust the Scope: Use the Level of Geography dropdown to switch between different census levels (such as Census Divisions or Census Metropolitan Areas).
  • Target a Location: Narrow your focus by selecting a specific Province/Territory, or drill down directly to local areas using the CD and CMA/CA or specific Geography dropdowns.
  • Change the Metrics: On the Main Page, use the Measure dropdown to change the primary data point being mapped and ranked. On the Correlation Page, use the X-Axis Measure and Y-Axis Measure dropdowns to select the two variables you wish to compare on the scatter plot.

Throughout the dashboard you will see information icons, hover over them with your mouse to read additional details.
